Student tell us in their own words how Tan Tao's scholarship committee has changed their lives and benefited the community as a whole. Without the aid of the USGI, Tan Tao's scholarship base would be reduced resulting in the potential of hundreds of students never being realized.
TTU's student selected for Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative
Pham Hoang Man, final-year student of the School of Business and Economics of Tan Tao University (TTU) has been awarded the 2015 Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI), which is President Obama's initiative to strengthen leadership development and networking in ASEAN, deepen engagement with young leaders on key regional and global challenges.
Pham Hoang Man is one of the 21 candidates in the Southeast Asian and the youngest among three Vietnamese candidates, the two others of which are a professional with the doctorate degree in public policy and a lecturer from Vietnam National University. The YSEALI includes one month training in the U.S. starting in September 2015. The US Department of State and the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs indicates Man’s participation as well as other young leaders will strengthen leadership across ASEAN, deepen engagement with young leaders on key regional and global challenges, and strengthen people-to-people ties between the United States and Southeast Asia.
Man is the top-ranking student in the TTU entrance exam for AY 2011. He has also demonstrated strong leadership qualities and potential when receiving numerous awards such as: National English Contest, Vallet Scholarship of Rencontres du VietNam, Truong Vinh Ky Award of Ben Tre Province...etc.
During the time of study at TTU, Man was always in the granted-scholarship list while still being active in all extracurricular activities such as free English teaching program for poor children in Duc Hoa District, Long An Province; green project in the rural area; a member of Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths Program of (JENESYS) advanced by the Japanese government.
Man said about his achievement: "I would like send my sincere thanks to Mme. Dang Thi Hoang Yen for her establishment of Tan Tao University, where I have learned to improve and expand my capabilities. I'd like to thank all my instructors at TTU, especially Mr. Dang Thanh Nhon, who has helped me a lot for my application to YSEALI ".
