Valuable lessons and experience learned at Medical School over the past school year

The small ant in a great journey

During the past school year, we were taught general courses such as mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology by knowledgeable, experienced and dedicated foreign professors. The professors not just provide us with valuable and useful knowledge through lessons, but also open our eyes to the world each and every day. They help us to learn how to love our people and such love motivated them to return to Vietnam to teach students. From the professors, we understand that Vietnam is still a very poor country and only learning of the youth can help revive the country with the pride of “rich forest and productive seas".
The professors have many expectations on us and have spent time telling us about advanced development of the world and how Vietnam still lags behind. Each lesson is like a reminder that we need to study harder and only learning can help our country. The latest knowledge in the world such as the publication of Professor Thuy or lectures of state-of-art medical instruments (currently unavailable in Vietnam) of professor Hao is very interesting and useful. We are also instructed to practice in cell laboratory, use the MRT.
In challenging courses such as anatomy, we had the chance to practice on human corpses, which helps us to easily learn and memorize. In chemistry course, we directly conduct blood and urine tests to detect diabetes and urinary urea. In physiology course, Professor Huyen helps us to learn about the metabolism of the human body.
To receive all these good things, we owe a huge thank to Mme. Dang Thi Hoang Yen and the Scholarship Committee. Thanks to Chairwoman, we have the opportunity to study, be provided with meals and live in a non-profit environment. She shows her love and care to both study and lives of students. Unlike other entrepreneurs, she donates her wealth to the education of the youth, not for profit-making purposes. We owe our big thanks to her and try our best to study to meet the expectations of Chairwoman and Dr. Tam.
Dr. Tam is like our father at Tan Tao Medical School. Although he walks with difficulty, he has still traveled to many regions to look for quality professors or practice places for us. He dedicated his time to teaching us about very basic knowledge but it is very important and gives foundation for all knowledge gained later. He not just cares about our study but also our meals and activities. He came to the dorm to know about our students. I love and appreciate Mme. Yen and Dr. Tam. I wish Dr. Tam and Mme. Yen always healthy and stay with us.

Dear Prof. Tam,
I am Huynh Thi Thu Truc – A first year student – School of Medicine – Tan Tao University. I write this letter to express my emotion after finishing my first year at Tao Tao University. After reading your letter, I greatly appreciated your kindness for all of us. I know that you are always the first man wishes us all the best things.
At Tan Tao University, lazy and unqualified students never deserve full scholarship, but I call It both challenge and promotion for us to learn harder. Yet, full scholarship can not be reached, the percent of scholarship can be considered according to our real academic ability. It means that becoming a doctor never be so easy, however I really love TTU and all of my Professors who help us to bridge difficulties in studying and in life as well. But the most precious thing I feel is the warm from your heart – My dear Prof. Bui Duy Tam
I    also understand that in comparison with the expenditure for building School of Medicine, the tuition fee that we have to pay is very modest, and there are abundant difficulties facing our school. I always wish you good health to travel with us in the six-year journey to become a doctor. I also promise to work hard so that do not feel ashamed with my Professors and with Madame Yen. I promise to be one of small ants carrying our dream of helping Vietnamese in future.
On the occasion of Tet Holiday, once again I wish you and your family good health. Thank you very much my second great father!

-Huynh Thi Thu Truc
